Switchgear questions buyers ask
SF6 or SF6-free ring main units?
Both exist. SF6 RMUs remain common in utility specifications in Africa and Asia; SF6-free designs (vacuum with dry air or solid insulation) are increasingly requested where regulations restrict SF6. Tell us which your specification requires; we quote the matching design and its type-test coverage.
Which internal arc classification should we specify?
IEC 62271-200 classifies accessibility (A for authorised personnel, B for public) and the sides tested (F, L, R), for example IAC AFLR 20 kA 1 s. The class depends on the room layout and who can approach the switchgear. Specify the class you need; we only offer designs whose report covers it.
Can you use the relay or breaker brand our utility specifies?
Usually yes. Many utilities name approved protection relay and breaker makers. We include the named brand in the offer and state any effect on price or lead time.
What do you need to quote a switchboard?
The single-line diagram, main busbar rating, short-circuit rating, form of separation, incomer type, outgoing circuits and metering. See LV switchboards for the reference specification.
