Nigeria's distribution network runs at 11 and 33 kV with 415/240 V, 50 Hz low voltage. Transformers are bought by the electricity distribution companies, by estates and industry, and through federal and state programmes that supply and install transformers in communities.

Import conformity
- Regulated goods need a Product Certificate (PC1, PC2 or PC3 under routes A, B or C) to open Form M, and a SONCAP Certificate for each shipment for customs clearance.
- Electrical cables are treated as life-endangering products: they can only be certified under PC1 (each shipment inspected, with witnessed container loading) or PC3 (licensed manufacturer, valid one year, inspected every six months), not PC2.
- Transformers are regulated; ask the inspection body whether your HS code falls under the life-endangering category, which decides the available routes.
- From 2025, certificates use the 10-digit HS code from the Nigeria Customs tariff.
